NYT: The Clash of Generations

Here is an article from the NYT op-ed column that I think is quite poignant. Our politicians no matter what party need to get their heads out of their asses and act like adults. Two groups arguing constantly without ever coming to a compromised solution isn't government, it's white noise.

It gets old seeing headlines like Lawmakers Renew Push for Deal on Cutting Deficit, and In Washington, a Push for a Plan to Raise the Debt Limit, and Debt Ceiling Talks Collapse as Boehner Walks Out day after day. A Rock-Solid Conservative Who’s Willing to Bend and  New York Allows Same-Sex Marriage, Becoming Largest State to Pass Law remind me of hope in our government.

Two Objects

First hit play (Music by Battles):

In a far off land of squares and triangles, two objects of life that had existed for many years, one particular square owned a hotel. This hotel had many comers and goers, some interesting some plain. Squares and triangles had their differences in the past but they made some triumphs as well.

The square owned hotel wasn't exactly the nicest place in the area but it suited most of it's visitors just fine. Recently the hotel was almost completely booked because of a conference nearby. Shapes abound filled the rooms. While room 218 was occupied for the weekend by an exquisite isosceles triangle most of the others were stocked with the usual squares and triangles. Tall, short, skinny, round, they all had their certain ways about them.

Most of the shapes came and went without any trouble but 218 was not most. Bing bong, bing bong, 218 walked along the path as the squares walked with their monotonous clip clop. Opening the door to the hotel, 218 walked to the front desk to inquire about it's room.

"Hello. You're the object staying in room 218 right?", the square hotel owner asked.

"Yes I am. I was wondering if I could get some more towels."

"That would be fine. I'll send them right up. You are quite symmetrical. Any plans after the sessions today? Want to go out after?"

218 obliged.

On their way back to the hotel, square and 218 meandered along the path.

"It always seems like every few magmas we end up in some messy shakedown. Why is it so hard for our types to exist peacefully?"

"I don't think it's that easy."

"You know if you look at us from above we're all just lines. We're not all that different. It's hard being a hotel owner you know? Everyone's on their way somewhere. No one really sticks around."

Nearby in a tech store, on the retinas an executive was explaining the newest diabetes outbreak, "It's been contained as of now but we will be investigating further into this matter," 218 had forgotten all about square.

"Are you even listening?" square asked.

"Oh. Yeah. Don't worry about it."

Back in the hotel lobby square made up some excuse to go to bed straight away. 218 managed to find some other square to fuck late into the night.

12% and delicious
Subway Series
Photobooth of the boy and the lady.

Yes we had tickets to last night's game. If the Rays would've remembered to take their tampons out we would have seen Jeter hit 3,000. Instead we get to go to a Thursday game in September. Thus I will have an extreme dislike for this bunch of pussies for the rest of my life.
Triumph in Greenwich Village. I want you.
